The Marlow Donkey

The Marlow Donkey challenge event:

• Event Name: The Marlow Donkey
• Date: Sunday, September 29, 2024
• Region / Area: Southern England / Chilterns
• Local Group: Thames Valley
• Distance / Time Limit: Participants can choose between a 16-mile (c16ml) or 25-mile (c25) route. Both routes must be completed within specific time limits: 8 hours for the 16-mile route and 9.5 hours for the 25-mile route.
• Start Time: Any time between 08:15 and 09:30; registration begins at 08:00 (please check for train arrival times)
• Start Location: Liston Hall, Liston Road, Marlow, Bucks (Marlow Community Association) SL7 1DD
• Route Description: The aim is to complete the chosen route on foot. The 8-mile checkpoint will have cut-off times included in the route description; if you arrive later than the specified cut-off time, you must return on the 16-mile route.
• General Notes:
  • All details are provisional and subject to change, so please monitor the official website for updates and further event information.
  • Parking is available in Liston Road car park outside the hall or 100 meters away at Dean St. Both currently cost £1.10 for the entire day on Sundays (as of January 2024).
  • Thames Valley LDWA will provide drinks and snacks at the start, an outward checkpoint, and a simple meal at the finish. Note that the food provided cannot be guaranteed free from allergen contamination due to practical constraints.
  • Timed certificates will be sent by email to all finishers who request them during registration.
  • The start location is not the Marlow Donkey pub next to the railway station.
• Entry Details:
  • Entry fees: £10 for LDWA members, £15 for non-LDWA participants.
  • Entries open on SiEntries for LDWA members only on June 1, 2024, and for others on August 20, 2024.
  • Closing date: September 13, 2024, or when the participant limit (150) is reached. No entries are allowed on the day.
