The Bath Beat
The Bath Beat is a scenic walking and running event scheduled for Saturday, 26th April 2025. It offers participants a choice of four distances: 12.5, 17, 21, or 26.5 miles, with a time limit of 13 hours to complete the challenge. The event will start at 07:30 from Ralph Allan School on Claverton Down Road in Bath.
The route promises to take participants through the beautiful countryside surrounding Bath, including woods, hills, and river valleys at the southerly edge of The Cotswolds. Along the way, several checkpoints will provide homemade cakes and sandwiches to keep the walkers and runners energized. For those taking on the longer routes of 21 and 26.5 miles, hot food and drinks will be available at a hall halfway around the course.
The event is well-regarded for its excellent organization, with efficient checkpoints and a warm welcome. The route is not only physically challenging but also visually rewarding, offering scenic views and passing through historical areas such as a disused canal and picturesque villages like Bathford, Avoncliffe, Hinton Charterhouse, Norton St Philip, Wellow, and Combe Hay before returning to Bath via the Somerset Coal Canal and the village of Midford1.
Entry fees for the event are set at £20 per person for the 12.5-mile distance and £29 per person for the other distances, which includes a branded Bath Beat T-shirt. Participants who complete the event will receive a certificate, and recovery service is available for those who might not be able to finish under their own steam.
