The Signpost Challenge is a challenge event organised by the Long Distance Walkers Association (LDWA). Here are the details:

  • Date: Sunday, October 20, 2024
  • Start Time: 08:30
  • Distance / Time Limit: Participants can choose between a 24-mile or 19-mile route.
  • Route: The event starts from Marple Senior Citizen’s Hall in Marple, located in the Stockport Derbyshire Border region. The scenic route takes walkers to the North and East of Marple, passing over landmarks such as Werneth LowCown EdgeLantern Pike, and Cracken Edge in the High Peak.
  • General Notes:
    • Car Parking: Available at Chadwick Street or Hollins Lane in Marple.
    • Runners Welcome: Runners are welcome to participate.
    • No Dogs: Unfortunately, dogs are not allowed.
    • Entry Fee: LDWA members pay £17, while non-LDWA participants pay £22. The fee includes tea/coffee/toast at the start, snacks/drinks at checkpoints, and a hot meal at the finish.
    • Certificate: All finishers receive a certificate.
    • Online Entry: You can register online via Sientries starting from April 2024.
  • Accommodation: There are several accommodations available within 20 km of the event, including options in Disley, New Mills, Bollington, and more.
