The Rodent Wriggle event, which takes place in Central England, is organised by the Norfolk & Suffolk Local Group of the Long Distance Walkers Association (LDWA).

  • Event Details:
    • Date: Saturday, July 27, 2024
    • Start Time: 8:00 AM
    • Location: Needham Market Community Centre, School Street, Needham Market, IP6 8BB
    • Distance / Time Limit:
      • Participants can choose from three routes:
        1. 13.5 miles
        2. 23 miles
        3. 50k (31.5 miles)
      • All routes must be completed within 11 hours, finishing by 7:00 PM.
    • Route Description:
      • The Rodent Wriggle follows a gentle, undulating scenic route through the Mid Suffolk countryside.
      • The name of the event is inspired by the way it meanders along the upper reaches of the River Rat.
      • Along the 50k route, participants will encounter 10 historic churches, each with its own unique charm.
      • Notable churches include:
        • Great Finborough, with its majestic spire
        • Quaint thatched Harleston Church
        • Rattlesden Church, with its magnificent Angel roof
    • Start Times:
      • Registration opens at 7:30 AM.
      • Walkers start at 8:00 AM.
      • Runners (long and medium routes) start at 9:00 AM.
      • Runners (short route) start at 9:30 AM.
      • All participants must finish by 7:00 PM.
      • An adult must accompany participants under 18.
    • Parking:
      • Long and medium-route participants can park at the Community Centre.
      • Short-route participants should use free parking in Station Yard or Needham Lake (both are short distances from the community centre).

      • Non-Members: £25.00
